Brooklyn Decker is an American fashion model and actress who is best known for her modelling work in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue as well as in the Victoria’s Secret 2010 ‘Swim” collection. She has also appeared on television as a guest star in episodes of Ugly Betty, Chuck and Royal Pains. She has starred in the feature films What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Battleship and Just Go With It.

Brooklyn was born in 1987 in Kettering Ohio and grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her mother is a nurse and her father works with pacemakers. She is also a distant cousin of Hollywood socialite Ben Decker.

She dreamed of being a veterinarian when she grew up and had four dogs and one cat during her childhood. She also competed on her school’s track team and was a cheerleader. When Brooklyn was 16 she was discovered at a shopping mall and her first modelling contract was with Mauri Simone, a designer of prom dresses. Another early modeling appearance was in a Miami-based magazine called Nikki Style. She won the 2003 Award for Model of the Year at the Connections Model and Talent Convention.

Brooklyn’s career began taking off and she started to appear in several publications including Seventeen, Elle Girl, FHM, Glamour, Vogue, Spin and Cosmopolitan. It was at this point that she left the town of Charlotte behind and moved to New York City so that she could be closer to her work and be within the epicenter of the modeling scene. She ended up living in the New York City borough that bears her name.

Brooklyn was, in fact, named after a horse. Her mother’s best friend had a horse named Brooke and loved the name, so her father had suggested the name “Brooklyn” as a more formal version for their child.

Shortly after her move in 2005, she got the gig modelling for Sports Illustrated in the Swimsuit edition. Once Victoria’s Secret saw her stunning photos, they asked her to model in their swimsuit catalog as well. The catalog was shot on location in the Maldives islands and Brooklyn was the cover girl for the shoot.

In 2010 Brooklyn had her first appearance in a film, starring in the romantic comedy Just Go With It along with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. The film debuted in February 2011. Later she appeared in the science fiction film Battleship and the pregnancy comedy What to Expect When You’re Expecting.

Decker was named one of the “100 Hottest Women of All Time” by Men’s Health Magazine and was #2 in Maxim Magazine’s list of 100 Hot Women. She was also one of the “55 Faces of the Future” in the Young Hollywood issue of Nylon Magazine in 2010. She has also made appearances in music videos for the band 3 Doors Down and Jimmy Buffet.

Brooklyn Decker is married to 30 year old American retired tennis champion Andy Roddick.
